I'm a cutting tool engineer and I use this to examine used tools to evaluate the effect of cutting a material on the tools. Taking pictures is easy and I'm able to store or email them to customers and colleagues.
The fact that this can stand alone or hookup to a PC is what clinched it for me. I really like that I can also capture images in it's standalone mode.
The extra side lights were also really useful. I mention that as some other microscopes in this category tend not to have any extra lighting. Sure, they are just a could LED lights, but it makes a difference in viewing.
It's a bit squirrelly at first to focus and I wish it had a stronger magnification factor. However, for the price point, this is a great first step into the microscopic realm.
I was happy with the resolution of the images that captured zebrafish embryo development. The compact size of the instrument allows me to bring it to a seminar or class presentation.
